so my sisters had been telling me about this fun game for awhile and we decided we would play it when they came up to visit. it is sort of like catch phrase, which is a family favorite of ours.
you start out by having every one write down a bunch of different names of people on little pieces of paper. they can be all sorts of random names, famous people, characters from movies, your orthodontist, whatever. for example we had some random names like: david archuleta, kiera knightly, shawn kemp, dr. barinaga, ezra taft benson, brooke white, porter rockwell, etc.
SO after you have a bunch of names written down you fold them up and put them in a bowl and divide everyone up into two teams. then the games begin.
round number one. when you get ready to start you have one person on the team start with the bucket and then they draw a name and try and get the team to guess it by describing it. after the team guesses the name they pass the bucket to the next teammate. the team tries to get as many names as possible in the time limit that they have, you can do either one minute or two minutes. after their minute is up it is the next teams turn to try and get as many names as possible. you record how many names each team gets each round and then do this until all of the names are gone. this is round number one.
round number two is almost the same except you can only use one word to describe it. this gets a little tricky, but if you try and remember the names from the first round it isn't hard.
round number three is the same except that instead of describing them with words, you act them out. this one is fun when you get names like "bambi."
after its finished you total up the names that both team got and see who had more!
okay so i think that sounds confusing, but it isn't. this game is so so much fun, and it is good because you don't need many props or anything, just some paper and a bowl! i guess you need a pen too. when you start going, everyone is trying to describe things fast in order to get alot of points so it gets a little crazy. here is an example:
hannah: okay i think its a black person, oh ya they freed the slaves
her team: harriet tubman?
hannah: ya...oh actually no...okay actually i think it is an apostle...oh ya its like thomas s monson and james taylor...
haha okay so they didn't get the name this round. it was ezra taft benson.
